No. 19 Lakehawk Volleyball Picks Up Two Conference Wins

LEESBURG, Fla. (Volleyball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) Volleyball registered three Sun-Lakes Conference wins this week to clinch a spot in the 2025 Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) DII Volleyball Championship.

Lake-Sumter at South Florida State (21-25, 25-17, 18-25, 25-13, 15-6)

Lake-Sumter logged their first of three five-set wins on the week at South Florida State College. The Lakeahwks outhit the Panthers 60 kills to 38 at a .207 clip for the win.

Brooke Fintak led the team with 14 kills and added a pair of aces, three assists, and six digs.

Samantha Beatty had 11 kills and Brianna Harlan logged nine kills with five digs.

Lake-Sumter at Palm Beach State (19-25, 25-17, 25-16, 22-25, 15-12)

The Lakehawks took the Panthers to five sets on their home court to take the series for the season. Both teams were relative to the other in numbers, but Lake-Sumter found victory beyond just defensive power.

Beatty had 17 kills and 12 digs. Emma Van Deusen and Fintak both added double digit kills with eight digs each.

Giada Viti logged 48 assists with 13 digs and Jocelyn Wanger added 23 digs.

Lake-Sumter at Indian River State College (23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 24-26, 13-15)

The Lakehawks logged just their third conference loss of the regular season against The River. Lake-Sumter outhit Indian River 65 kills to 60 with a .253 hitting percentage, but ultimately were edged out for the loss.

Beatty and Fintak continue to lead the team offensively while contributing significantly defensively.

Beatty's double double came in at 20 kills and 24 digs. Fintak logged 14 kills with 11 digs.

Viti posted a career-high double double with 45 assists and 20 digs.  

Next week, the Lakehawks have four home games, three of those being in Sun-Lakes Conference play.

Lake-Sumter opens the week with non-conference opponent on Tuesday against Trinity College at 6:00 p.m. For conference play, the Lakehawks will host Pasco-Hernando on Wednesday at 6:00, State College of Florida on Friday at 6:00 p.m., and St. Petersburg College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
