LEESBURG, Fla. (Volleyball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) Volleyball registered three Sun-Lakes Conference wins this week to clinch a spot in the 2025 Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) DII Volleyball Championship. The Lakehawks will return to the tournament for the first time since 2023.
Lake-Sumter vs. Pasco-Hernando (25-20, 25-18, 25-20)
The Lakehawks opened the three-match conference week with a three-set win over Pasco-Hernando State College.
Samantha Beatty and Brooke Fintak led the Lakehawks offence with nine kills and six kills respectively. Beatty added 15 digs.
Giada Viti and Gracie Skipper teamed up at setter. Viti had 13 assists and five digs while Skipper had 11 assists and five digs.
Lake-Sumter vs. State College of Florida (22-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-11, 22-20)
In a thrilling five-set match, the Lakehawks came from a two-set deficit to defeat the Manatees for the second time this season. Lake-Sumter outhit SCF 74 kills to 30 in the 3-2 win.
Brianna Harlan, Emma Van Deusen, Anna Evans, Fintak, and Beatty all logged 10 or more kills. Fintak and Beatty recorded double doubles with 17 digs and 21 digs respectively.
Alexis DeLand, stepping into the starting libero position this week, recorded a career-high of 21 digs. Viti also posted a career-high 53 assists and added 12 digs.
Lake-Sumter vs. St. Petersburg College (25-11, 25-20, 20-25, 25-17)
Coming off Friday night's high, the Lakehawks came out on top for their fourth straight win of the week. The Lakehawks recorded 42 kills in the four-set win at a .238 clip as a team.
Beatty recorded her second double double of the week with 14 kills and 14 digs. DeLand add 16 digs with three aces and a pair of assists.
With three conference wins, the Lakehawks improve to 21-3 on the season with a 13-3 conference.
With just four matches left in the regular season, the Lakehawks are set to face top competition in St. Johns River State College, Pensacola State College, and Gulf Coast State College. Three top-25 matchups on their home court will set the tone going into the post season.
