No. 21 Lakehawk Volleyball Drowns Manta Rays
LEESBURG, Fla. (Volleyball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) Volleyball logged their second win of the week against Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) on Thursday evening. The Lakehawks defeated the Manta Rays in straight sets to remain undefeated.
Samantha Beatty continues to lead the Lakehawks offensively recording 14 kills hitting .464 with just one hitting error.
Giada Viti had 20 assists with eight kills. Joselyn Wanberg recorded 11 digs.
Three weeks into conference play, Beatty is third in the conference for kills with 174 and fifth for kills per set with 3.48. She also sits in third for aces with 35.
Viti ranks fourth in the conference for assists with 298 and sixth in assists per set with 6.08.
The Lakehawks also have two in the top-10 for digs. Joselyn Wanberg is second with 196 digs and Beatty joins at sixth with 158.
With the win over the Manta Rays, the Lakehawks improve to a perfect 13-0 on the season and 8-0 in conference play.
Up next for the Lakehawks is nonconference matchup against Trinity College on Monday at 6:00 p.m. Later in the week, the team will travel to play the panhandle schools, Pensacola State College and Gulf Coast State College.
At this time, Lake-Sumter and Gulf Coast are tied for first in conference standing, both with eight wins and zero losses against conference opponents. Saturday at 2:00 p.m. will be the tie breaker.
