Lakehawk Volleyball Adds Three to “Ws” Column

LEESBURG, Fla. (Volleyball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) volleyball added three more wins to their historic streak last week against Pasco-Hernando State College, State College of Florida (SCF), and St. Petersburg College. The Lakehawks are now 11-0 on the season and 6-0 in Sun-Lakes Conference play.

Lake-Sumter at Pasco-Hernando, 21-21, 25-18, 22-25, 25-19

The Lakehawks jumped on top of the Bobcats on Wednesday evening, gaining a two-set lead right away. After dropping a close third set, Lake-Sumter came back in set four to secure the match.  

Brooke Fintak and Samantha Beatty continue their offensive/defensive presence, both recording double doubles for the match. Fintak had 16 kills with 14 digs while Beatty had 10 kills and 11 digs.

Emma Van Duesen and Anna Evans added 13 kills each.

Libero Joselyn Wanberg became a member of the FCSAA 25-Dig Club for the first time this season with 26 digs against the Bobcats.

Lake-Sumter at SCF, 25-15, 25-16, 25-16

The Lakehawks swept the Manatees in straight sets on Friday evening.

Lake-Sumter at St. Petersburg, 25-18, 25-20, 25-23

The Lakehawks secured their third win of the week with a three-set win over St. Petersburg.

Lake-Sumter now sits in a four-way tie with Gulf Coast State College, Pensacola State College, and St. Johns River State College, all at a 6-0 conference record.

The Lakehawks continue conference play with a pair of matches next week:

Lake-Sumter at St. Johns River State College, Sept. 16 at 6:00 p.m.

Lake-Sumter vs. Florida State College at Jacksonville, Sept. 18 at 6:00 p.m.
