Lakehawk Volleyball Extends Win Streak to Eight

LEESBURG, Fla. (Volleyball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) volleyball continues their win streak with a pair of Sun-Lakes Conference wins over Palm Beach State College (PBSC) and Indian River State College.

Lake-Sumter vs. Palm Beach State, 22-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-17

After dropping a close first set to the Panthers, the Lakehawks regrouped between sets to take the next three straight sets to record their second conference win of the week.

Samantha Beatty was all over the court with 16 kills, 22 digs, four aces, and a pair of blocks.

Emma Van Deusen added 14 kills and five digs with a block. Brooke Fintak had 11 kills with six digs.

Lake-Sumter vs. Indian River, 25-16, 25-11, 22-25, 15-25, 15-13

The Lakehawks got on top of the River quick taking a two-set lead before Indian River tied that match at two sets each.

In the deciding set, Indian River led the majority of the set and sat 8-5 at the side switch.

Now 9-7 and down by two, the Lakehawks went on a run taking the lead over the River 13-10. In a thrilling finish, Lake-Sumter defeated Indian River 15-13 extending their historic win streak to eight.

Beatty posted her seventh double-double of the season with 15 kills and 11 digs.

The Lakehawks go back on the road next week for three matches. Next week's Sun-Lakes Conference schedule is below:

Lake-Sumter at Pasco-Hernando, Sept. 10 at 6:00 p.m.

Lake-Sumter at State College of Florida, Sept. 12 at 6:00 p.m.

Lake-Sumter at St. Petersburg, Sept. 13 at 1:00 p.m.
