Nichols-Webb, Smith Earn All-America honors at NJCAA Championships

HOBBS, N.M. (Track & Field) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) Track & Field wrapped up the 2026 NJCAA Men's & Women's DI Track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon. Across 10 events, the Lakehawks set two new program records and secured two all-America honors.
Day 1 – Thursday, May 14
Freshman thrower Judson Nichols-Webb opened the championship with an all-America honor in the Javelin. After fouling his first throw, he threw 60.04m on his second which held up in the standings for eighth place overall and NJCAA All-America status.
Nichols-Webb becomes the program's first NJCAA All-American.
In the 400m Hurdles, Oksanna Smith took second in her heat with a time of 1:03.20. In overall standing, she finished ninth securing a spot in the finals on Saturday.
The final race is set for 3:45 MT. Smith will start in lane one hoping to secure a top eight spot to join Nichols-Webb on the all-America list.
Day 2 – Friday, May 15
Sophomore Spencer Palmer's capped his Lake-Sumter career with a personal record (PR) and program record in the 800m with a time of 1:52.66. He took 12th overall in the event, third in his heat.
Elijah Palmer finished close behind his brother in standing. Entering the event as the 64th seed, Palmer finished 14th overall with a new PR of 1:53.39.
Day 3 – Saturday, May 16
Oksanna Smith was the final Lakehawk to compete at this year's national championship.
Smith entered Saturday's 400m Hurdles race as the ninth seed. She took fifth in the event with a time of 1:01.16 to earn NJCAA All-America honors.
Smith becomes the first all-American for the women's team and just the second ever for the program.
Lakehawk Track & Field's 2026 season comes to end in Hobbs, New Mexico. The teams graduate a class of 21 sophomores; a dedicated group of student-athletes that helped to establish a reputation success over the last two years.
