PREVIEW: No. 15 Lakehawk Softball at Pasco-Hernando
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (Softball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) softball continues Sun-Lakes Conference play on Friday at Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC). The Lakehawks travel to New Port Richey, Fla. for a double header at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.
Six games into the second round of regular season conference play, the Lakehawks still remain second in conference standing with a 20-4 conference record. The Bobcats enter this weekend in third with a 13-11 record, still looking to clinch a spot in the Region 8 Championship in May.
In their first series, Lake-Sumter swept Pasco-Hernando in three games, 4-3, 11-1, and 8-1. Since then, the Bobcats have won nine of their last 12 conference games, including sweeps over South Florida State College and Florida Gateway College.
The Lakehawks enter the weekend series in similar situation, the team's only four conference losses for the season coming from No. 1 St. Johns River State College. Additionally, their only losses since early March have come from the Vikings.
PHSC does not have livestream available for home games, but fans can visit @LakehawkSports on twitter for game updates when they become available.
After this weekend, the Lakehawks will have just four more regular season games before the Region 8 Championship on May 1. At this time, Lake-Sumter and St. Johns are the only two teams who have clinched a spot in the four-team tournament.
