Lakehawk Baseball Takes Second at FCSAA Championship

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) Baseball took second place at the 2025 FCSAA DII Baseball Championship, making history as the first team in program history to make an appearance in the championship game.
After a thrilling 14-2 win to eliminate South Florida State College in the semifinal, the Lakehawks advanced to the championship game against the undefeated Pasco-Hernando State College. The Bobcats defeated the Lakehawks 2-0 to win the FCSAA title.
The Lakehawk offense exploded against the Panthers with 17 hits to account for the team's 14 runs. Eli Thumond, Camden Williamson, Tad Brooks, Mason Blackburn, and Ryan Villaman all had two or more hits in the win.
Fabian Romero got the start on the mound against South Florida State.
Romero pitched 6.0 innings to record the win improving to 6-4 on the season. He allowed just two runs on two hits with six strikeouts.
Max Windham took the mound in the top of the seventh to close out the game. He recorded three strikeouts to round out the Lakehawks' win in the semifinal.
After a short break, Lake-Sumter transitioned to their second game of the day; the Championship against Pasco-Hernando State College. The Bobcats held the Lakehawks to just two hits in the shutout to secure the title.
Corey Peters and Ethon Tesmer teamed up on the mound against Pasco-Hernando State College.
Tesmer allowed just three hits on one run with five innings pitched. Peters held the Bobcats to one run on two hits in the final three innings.
Camden Williamson and Tad Brooks were named to the FCSAA All-Tournament Team.
In four games, Williamson went 4-for-14 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Brooks went 7-for-13 for the tournament.
The Lakehawks finish the 2025 season with a 30-26 record. In addition to the team's first appearance in the championship final, it was also the first 30-win season in program history and first winning season since 2013.
At this time, Lakehawk Baseball has five graduating sophomores moving on to four year schools: Ean Gimson (Eckerd College), Andrew Merchant (New College of Florida), Ricky O'Dette (Saint Leo University), Rodney Sesler (New College of Florida), and Eli Thurmond (Florida Southern University).
