AVON PARK, Fla. (Softball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) Softball restarted a new win streak with a pair of wins over South Florida State College (SFSC) on Saturday afternoon. With two wins, the Lakehawks take the series for the season over the Panthers 5-0.
Game 1 – LSSC 5, SFSC (8 innings)
Sammi Thomas led the Lakehawk offense going 4-for-4 with one RBI. Malayla Miller went 2-for-2 with one RBI and one run scored.
Amy Bak and Savannah Ellis teamed up on the mound for the extra innings win. Bak tossed 6.0 innings allowing one run on three hits with four strikeouts to take the no decision for game one.
Ellis took the mound in the seventh inning in relief and recorded the win in the eighth improving to 10-5 on the season.
Game 2 – LSSC 12, SFSC 8
The Lakehawks had seven with multiple hits in game two.
Emma Chisholm went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Maya Hegedus went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Ellis recorded the win for game two with four innings pitched. She allowed five runs, four earned, on nine hits with a pair of strikeouts.
Kaitlyn Duquette took the mound in the fifth. She allowed three runs, one earned, on four hits with two strikeouts.
Lake-Sumter improves to 35-13 on the year with a 19-4 record in conference play, maintaining the second spot in conference standing. The Panthers move to a 5-21 conference record and remain in seventh.
The Lakehawks will be back in Sun-Lakes Conference action Friday, Apr. 18 at Pasco-Hernando State College.
