Albuquerque, NM – It has been an amazing inaugural season for the Lake-Sumter State College men's cross country program with two All-State performers competing at Nationals.
More than 300 runners from 45 different programs descended upon Albuquerque, NM for the NJCAA DI Cross Country National Championships. William Troupe and Alexander Croy represented the Lakehawks in Lake-Sumter athletics' second ever trip to a National event.
Troupe finished the 8k with a time of 27:08 to finish 111 out of 343. Croy crossed the finish line a few spots ahead of his teammate, coming in 93 posting a time of 26:54. Both runners cleared their times from the Regional Meet a week prior. Troupe cut his time by almost a minute while Croy crushed his personal best by 1:09.
"I am so proud of these two and what they have accomplished this season," said Head Coach, Cristy Snellgroves. "Our program is on the rise and William and Alexander gave us a great starting point!"
Wesley Banguria from Colby College (KS) took home first place with a time of 22:55. Cloud County (KS) won the team standings with 89 points.
