Lakehawk Golf in 10th after Day One of Skyhawk Classic
NEWNAN, Ga. (Men's Golf) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) men's golf team has officially completed their first day of competition at the Spring Skyhawk Invitational – marking the team's first large-field tournament. After 36 holes of golf, the Lakehawks sit at 10th place going into the final round tomorrow morning.
Held at Newnan Country Club, the Lakehawks squared off against a nationally ranked field, from both the NAIA and NJCAA, on a challenging and unfamiliar course. The day began with a frost delay, as the cold temperatures created an obstacle for competitors before the first tee was struck.
While day one scores did not reflect the Lakehawk's full potential, the experience gained today was invaluable. Competing in field of predominantly four-year golfers, this afternoon's results provided the team with a clear goal for future rounds of golf.

With a better understanding of the course and its conditions, the Lakehawks now have the opportunity to bounce back tomorrow for a strong performance in the final round of the Spring Skyhawk Classic.
At this time, tee times are set for 8:30 a.m. across the board with the same pairings as today:
Hole 12 – T. Watkins, Damil Ataullah (Talladega College), Brock Naile (Vincennes University).
Hole 13 – K. Johnson, Sawyer Edwards (Talladega College), Kadin Gibson (Vincennes University).
Hole 14 – N. Williams, Nick Ledbetter (Talladega College), Alex Nealis (Vincennes University).
Hole 15 – K. Schlichenmaier, Wesley Jenkins (Talladega College), Landon Gardner (Vincennes University).
Hole 16 – B. Parker, Julio Roman (Talladega College), Matthew Mills (Vincennes University).
